Planning updates – SAMRA acting on your behalf! In line with our aim to protect and improve the environs of Sandymount Strand, Sandymount Village and Dublin Bay, we’ve summarised below two recent projects where SAMRA has been successfully active on behalf of our membership and residents.Planning permission refused for the demolition of two mid-Victorian buildings on Sandymount AvenueIn our submission objecting to the development (one of over 40), SAMRA noted that the houses, which date from the 1850s, are of historic, architectural, cultural and artistic merit, and make a significant positive contribution to the character and identity of streetscape. The demolition of these houses would, we said, be a great loss to the architectural heritage of the area.SAMRA letter: http://www.dublincity.ie/AnitePublicDocs/00772011. "It is clear to see the pictures of our beautiful environment - but readers need to know that this is genuinely under threat. Not by malice or intent BUT by the cumulative effect and unintended consequences of our local planning processes.
Dublin Bay is a unique environment, on the doorstep of Ireland’s capital city and MUST be protected from these threats for our future generations.
